Breeders of fine drum horses

...and the first SILVER BAY AMERICAN DRUM HORSE in the world!

In the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains close to a little town called Coarsegold, California you will find a small family barn run by Holly & Abe Subia where they go about their business of bringing together the Gypsy horse with the stately draft to produce a new breed of horse – the Drum Horse.

And what is so special about the Drum Horse you ask, well the Drum Horse is a horse that carries two big silver kettledrums and a rider in the Royal Parades. Due to the weight they carry and the fact that the rider steers the horse by rains attached to his feet these horse are breed to be strong and patient with excellent temper. So how do you breed such a creature – with magic! No seriously it's by breeding a Gypsy horse with a draft like a Clydesdale, Shire or Friesian and the end result is a strong horse the size of a draft with the colouration and feathered legs of the Gypsy horse. But what makes these horse even more special is their athleticism and even temperament, ideal for dressage, eventing, saddle seat, trail, pleasure and driving disciplines.

The Subia's fell so in love with the gentle giants that they have made breeding Drum horses their life's work so if you would like to find out more about the breed feel free to contact them. Holly is also currently on the Board of Directors for the American Drum Horse Association so she can assist you with your questions regarding standards and registration.
